An 18-year-old from Dornsife, Pa., has been arrested after allegedly making threats to shoot up a local school during a Snapchat conversation. Braxton Michael Morey is currently being held in Northumberland County Prison after police were alerted regarding a threat to the Line Mountain School District.

Disturbing Snapchat Messages Lead to Arrest

The investigation began when the FBI sent screenshots of the disturbing exchange to Pennsylvania State Police. According to an affidavit, the messages showed Morey discussing guns with a juvenile. When asked who would be responsible for shooting up the school, Morey reportedly replied, "Me, me, me, me."

The juvenile involved in the chat then asked Morey if he had a gun. Morey responded by sending a photo of an AK-style rifle and saying he wasn't scared of going to jail.

When questioned by police, Morey claimed the messages were a joke and insisted he had no intention of following through on the threats. Morey stated the rifle photo was sourced from the internet, and he did not own a firearm. He has been charged with felony counts of terroristic threats and criminal use of a communication facility.

Facing Criminal Charges? Here's Why You Need a Lawyer

Are you or a loved one in hot water? Here's what experienced defense lawyers do to help your case:

  • Lack of Knowledge or Control – Argue that the defendant had no knowledge or control over the alleged crime or contraband.
  • Broken Chain of Custody – Expose any mishandling of evidence that could lead to contamination, alteration, or tampering.
  • Coercion or Deception – Investigate whether the defendant was coerced, manipulated, or deceived into committing the alleged offense.
  • Mental Health and Other Factors – Present mental health issues, duress, or other circumstances that may lessen the defendant's responsibility.
  • Alternative Sentencing – Advocate for rehabilitation, diversion programs, or other alternatives to prison time.
  • Suppression of Evidence – File motions to exclude unlawfully obtained or unreliable evidence from the case.
  • Witness Credibility – Challenge the reliability and motives of witnesses or informants testifying against the defendant.
  • Negotiate Plea Deals – Work to reduce charges or penalties through plea bargaining or negotiations with the prosecution.

These are just a few ways an attorney can defend your rights.
