Adam Stafford King was arrested at his suburban Chicago home on child pornography charges. King is a veterinarian by trade, and according to reports, he is also a dog show judge.
An agent discovered the alleged possession and dissemination of child pornography while investigating a different matter involving an individual from New York. The person the FBI was investigating had received messages containing child pornography from someone in the Chicagoland area.
FBI agents communicated with King through the New York individual's devices, and King made some disturbing statements. He allegedly admitted to drugging and abusing children, and he unwittingly shared pornographic materials with the agents.

Telegram Messages
King allegedly shared child pornographic videos and other images on the Telegram cross-messaging platform. It is a cloud-based service with client-to-server encryption in the standard version. They also offer so-called "Secret Chat" messages with end-to-end encryption.
Because of its encryption features, Telegram has been commonly used by people who are having extramarital affairs and others who want to keep communications completely private. Unfortunately, the King case is not the only instance of Telegram utilization for child pornography sharing.
Last year, a Pharr, Texas, man was arrested by the FBI on child pornography charges after buying materials on Telegram. In another 2023 incident, the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested two Essex, Vermont men for sharing child pornographic images on Telegram Messenger.
These are just a couple of examples, but there are others, and Telegram is not the only platform that is used to distribute child pornography. Here in Pennsylvania, 39-year-old Eric Mann of Boggs Township was arrested in March 2024 for possession of sexually explicit images of children that were uploaded on the Discord messaging platform.
The Pennsylvania Child Pornography Laws
The penalties for child pornography possession are significant. Under Title 18 of the Statutes of Pennsylvania, the dissemination of images of individuals under the age of 18 engaging in or simulating prohibited sexual acts is a violation. A first offense is a third-degree felony that can result in a 5-year prison term.
