Drug Bust Defendants Dealt Sobering Charges

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Dec 26, 2024 | 0 Comments

In late October, after a year-long investigation, five defendants from Philadelphia ranging in age from 27 to 50 – David Arroyo, Miguel Jorge-Ortiz, Neil Perez, Jose Guzman, and Carlos Lake – were busted on federal drug trafficking and related charges.

Law enforcement officials executed search warrants at nine properties and three vehicles over the course of the investigation, which took place in Philadelphia and Chester County. In these searches, they recovered more than $250,000 worth of drugs, guns, and cash.

This included over 3 pounds of fentanyl, another 1,500 baggies of packaged fentanyl, almost 4 and a half pounds of cocaine, two assault rifles, three handguns, and $25,000 cash.

These men are now facing serious charges in addition to federal drug trafficking, including conspiracy, corrupt organizations, and drug delivery, resulting in death. Penalties, if found guilty, will likely include lengthy prison sentences, hefty fines, and permanent criminal records that will no doubt impact future employment and housing opportunities.

If you or a loved one has been charged with a serious drug-related crime, you need a fierce criminal defense team to protect your rights and future. We will advise you on whether it's in your best interest to fight the case to trial or to work out a resolution, such as a plea agreement.

The consequences of the decision you make about your legal defense now will likely be life-altering. Securing experienced legal representation is crucial. Contact the LLF Law Firm today at 888.535.3686 or through our online form for a confidential consultation and personalized defense strategy.

What You Stand to Lose Without Strong Legal Defense from the LLF Law Firm

When facing serious drug charges in Pennsylvania, your choice of legal representation can make a huge difference in the outcome of your case. Going it alone or with a less experienced defender could mean:

  • An extended, potentially decades-long prison sentence. If someone dies or is seriously injured as a result, the sentence cannot be less than 20 years.
  • Substantial fines, potentially reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  • Permanent loss of certain rights, such as voting or owning firearms.
  • Difficulty finding employment or housing due to a felony record.
  • Potential asset forfeiture.
  • Mandatory drug treatment programs.

How We Secure Better Outcomes for Clients

Whether you're being investigated, are facing charges for the first time, or are hoping to appeal your conviction in the United States Court of Appeals, our approach to your defense starts with a thorough look at many factors at play:

  • Did police violate any of your Constitutional rights?
  • Did they have a warrant?
  • Did someone force you into the crime you are charged with?
  • Did law enforcement entrap you?
  • Was there actually an agreement between you and someone else to commit the crime you are being charged with?

Based on your answers to these questions and more, we will tailor a defense strategy specifically to your personal circumstances. Our team of seasoned attorneys has a proven track record of successfully defending clients against complex drug charges. We offer:

  • In-depth knowledge of Pennsylvania and federal drug laws.
  • Aggressive defense strategies customized to your specific case.
  • Thorough investigation of all evidence and circumstances presented.
  • Skilled negotiation with prosecutors in pursuit of reduced charges or penalties.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy if your case goes to trial.
