Employer Grooming Leads to Multiple Sex Crime Charges

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Oct 11, 2024 | 0 Comments

A Pennsylvania man faces numerous criminal charges after using his workplace position to allegedly manipulate two teenage girls, which ended in sexual assault. If convicted, the individual may serve years behind bars as the commonwealth manages sex crimes with harsh punishments. If you or a loved one face criminal charges in Pennsylvania, call the LLF Law Firm at 888-535-3686 or go online now.

Burger King Employee Grooms Teenage Workers

Chester County law enforcement officials explained that 37-year-old Anthony Burns of Spring City was arrested for allegedly engaging in criminal sexual contact with two underage girls. Officials said that Burns used his status as an employee of an East Pikeland Township Burger King to groom the young victims who were co-workers at the fast-food chain.

Criminal complaints shared that on at least two occasions, Burns climbed through the bedroom window of one of the teen's residences and engaged in sexual intercourse with her. Officials said the other teen was sent sexually explicit texts, including an erotic photo of Burns, and was groped while at the Burger King where the two worked. Burns faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Indecent Assault, Statutory Sexual Assault, and Unlawful Contact with Minors, among others.

Safeguards Against False Accusations

Regardless of the above story, there are instances where employers can be falsely accused of grooming younger employees for sexual advances. For those who have duties managing personnel, the risk can be multifaceted in situations involving retaliation or manipulation.

All employees must be protected from genuine and false accusations with a mixture of clear workplace policies, training, and employer monitoring. Some common protocols can include the following:

  • Mandatory behavioral training sessions to promote appropriate conduct between adult and minor employees.
  • Education on anti-harassment laws and company complaint procedures.
  • Video surveillance in shared areas like break rooms, storage areas, etc.
  • Prohibiting personal interactions between adult employees and minors outside of work.

When allegations rise to criminal charges, the consequences increase from suspension or termination of employment to potential imprisonment. When an individual's livelihood and future are on the line, they need to rely on a team of attorneys with dedication to fairness in the eyes of the law.
