Man Caught Flesh-Handed at Hotel Pool in Pennsylvania Charged, Should Hire a Qualified Criminal Defense Attorney

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Sep 21, 2023 | 0 Comments

One Pennsylvania man apparently planned to go for a dip at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, when things simply got out of hand. Or, if you'll excuse the pun, into hand.

When a hotel employee entered the pool area on July 19th, they were shocked to find a man with his laptop open and his hands in his shorts, “aggressively stroking” on a poolside lounge chair. A bottle of cream was sitting next to the computer, leaving little doubt about what was happening.

When speaking with police, the man admitted to “watching porn” and masturbating, also admitting (perhaps unnecessarily) that he had engaged in the same act (in the hotel lobby) days earlier. The officers charged the man with disorderly conduct and open lewdness.

The Man Likely Thought He Had Sufficient Privacy, but Found Out Otherwise—and Faces Criminal Charges as Consequence

While it may be tempting to criticize the Lewisburg man for wanton use of his hands in a public area, the truth is that he's not the first to engage in a careless act, thinking they're doing no harm to others. Only when the unexpected happens—a hotel employee walking into the seemingly private area, for example—does the folly of one's actions fully set in.

We all make errors in judgment, some more egregious than others. These lapses can permanently stain one's reputation and produce lasting stigma that profoundly affects their personal and professional lives.

When faced with the error of your actions and the criminal charges that result from those actions, your first priority should be to hire a capable criminal defense attorney. The LLF Law Firm Criminal Defense Team helps clients mitigate the harm that a severe lapse in judgment might otherwise cause.

Embarrassing Situations Can Lead to Serious Criminal Charges

As he spoke with law enforcement officers, the man from Lewisburg admitted that he struggled with pornography addiction and that his behavior by the pool was indicative of a compulsion. Addictions are the root of many criminal acts, and those driven by their addictions deserve a reasonable degree of compassion.

However, once authorities have issued criminal charges, compassion from the courts is no guarantee. You must take proactive measures to seek a dismissal of charges, enrollment in a diversion program, or other legal outcomes allowing you to avoid lifelong fallout from an embarrassing mistake.
