PA Doctor Accused of Withholding Medication for Sexual Purposes
A York County physician who once served as Pyramid Healthcare Treatment Center’s Medical Director has been accused of using his authority to take advantage of patients in vulnerable circumstances.
Dr. Christopher Davis, 63, has been charged with rape, sexual extortion, and various other offenses for allegedly threatening to withhold medication from female patients seeking opioid addiction treatment unless they provided sexual images or engaged in sexual acts.
Bail was set at $1,000,000 when Davis was taken into custody and charged. In these early stages, it remains to be seen what penalties the doctor is likely to face. Depending on which (if any) of the charges he’s convicted of, he may face fines, jail time, and related consequences, such as loss of his professional license.
If you’ve been accused of a sex crime in Pennsylvania, having the right defense is critical now. Along with guarding against legal penalties, the right defense team could potentially help you avoid disciplinary action against your professional license, which is something you may need to consider if you’re a doctor, nurse, or other such professional accused of a sex crime in Pennsylvania.

Doctor Allegedly Withholds Methadone for Sexual Favors
Methadone is a common medication provided to patients in opioid addiction treatment programs. Patients may rely on this medication to help them combat the urges to use potentially more dangerous drugs as they attempt to break free from harmful habits.
Doctors and other medical professionals have the authority to determine whether patients receive methadone when participating in addiction treatment programs. According to the allegations, Davis may have leveraged this authority for the purposes of his own sexual gratification. Based on the outcome of a grand jury investigation, authorities accuse him of requiring female patients to provide sexual images of themselves or engage in sexual acts, indicating to them that failure to comply would result in loss of access to their methadone.
In a statement condemning Davis for allegedly abusing his power as a trusted physician, Attorney General Dave Sunday said “People seeking to better their lives through treatment should be celebrated and supported, not preyed upon and exploited.”
Davis now faces such charges as:
- Rape
- Sexual assault
- Aggravated indecent assault
- Sexual extortion
- Indecent assault
Again, it’s important to consider the impact such charges could have on a physician’s career. Even if the criminal penalties Davis ultimately faces end up being lenient, a conviction could potentially result in the loss of his privilege to practice medicine in the Commonwealth. For any licensed professional, legal trouble can have negative implications for one’s career.
