Everyone wants to find someone to blame. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies invest considerable personnel and financial resources in apprehending and prosecuting alleged abusers.

The stakes are high for anyone accused of being the perpetrator. A conviction can result in large fines and significant prison time. U.S. District Judge Sentences PA Man to 30 Years in Prison

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni sentenced a Pennsylvania man, David Tweed, to 30 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for the sexual exploitation of a child. The DOJ explained that Tweed met a 12 to 13-year-old girl online and persuaded her to send sexual pictures and videos to him. He also coaxed her to perform lewd acts during video calls. Later, Tweed traveled from his home in Pennsylvania to New England, where he met and sexually assaulted the child.

Project Safe Child, a national initiative led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the DOJ's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, brought the case against Tweed. Project Safe Child coordinates the efforts and resources of federal, state, and local law enforcement to find and prosecute people who sexually exploit and abuse children.
