Snapchat Meeting Leads to Arrest for Statutory Rape

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Sep 17, 2024 | 0 Comments

Being accused of statutory sexual assault or any crime against a child can have a catastrophic impact on your life. Any law enforcement investigation targeting you as a criminal exposes you and your loved ones to intense police scrutiny and harsh public judgments long before a trial has occurred. The legal impact of a conviction is severe and may include significant jail time. Furthermore, the collateral consequences of an accusation of or a conviction for a crime against a child can disrupt every aspect of your life, from your relationships with your family and friends to your employment and living situation.

Additionally, any investigation or prosecution becomes more complicated if the alleged victim is a minor. Furthermore, the public's drive to find the perpetrator can make it almost impossible to have an impartial investigation or a fair trial. Regardless of the nature of the allegations, criminal defendants have legal rights that should be protected.

If you have been accused of statutory rape or any other crime against a child, the LLF Law Firm Team can help. We can partner with you to ensure that evidence is collected properly, that exonerating witnesses are identified and interviewed, and that law enforcement and prosecutors respect your due process rights. Pennsylvania Man Charged With Rape of Minor After Meeting on Snapchat

It has been reported that the Brookline Police Department in Massachusetts has charged Pennsylvania man Edward Garry with the rape of a minor. It is believed that Garry and the alleged victim met on Snapchat and arranged an in-person meeting. Then, Garry and the minor visited a hotel in Brookline, Massachusetts, where the alleged crime occurred.

The police investigation began after the minor's parents made a report to Brookline law enforcement. Garry faces a charge of aggravated statutory rape with a greater than 10-year age difference.

With law enforcement agencies from Pennsylvania and Massachusetts working together, Garry was located. He was arrested and remains detained in Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to Massachusetts.
