The Internet was officially birthed in the 1980s, but in the last decade, it has exploded. With the increasing number of social media apps, video games, and networking events taking place online, access to children has never been easier. More and more cases of sexual misconduct, including the sexual exploitation of minors, have been coming to light all over the nation.
Earlier this year, 29-year-old Christopher Steven Foster, from Moscow, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with over 1,000 counts of possession of child pornography and another eight felonies and two misdemeanors. The arrest was made after the Chatham County Sheriff's Office's Family Violence Unit in North Carolina received a report of a minor child who was asked for sexually explicit videos and photographs while playing the videogame Fortnite. When the request was traced back to Foster, the police in PA executed a search warrant and found nearly 165,000 files of child pornography on his electronic devices.

Sexual Exploitation Crimes Carry Hefty Sentences
When an adult sexually exploits anyone, especially children, they should be punished, but only after having a chance to properly defend themselves and being found guilty by a court of law. In Pennsylvania, there are a number of laws that relate to the sexual exploitation of children, including possessing, taking, or requesting photographs, videotapes, or other depictions of sexual acts involving a minor.
If a defendant is found guilty of child pornography, their sentence will differ depending on the degree of the felony. For instance, a first-offense second-degree felony can incur up to 5 years in prison, but if the defendant is convicted and commits the crime again, they can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
In this case, Foster was charged with over 1,000 counts of different felony crimes. If convicted on all the counts, or even just some of them, Foster could face over 20 years in prison.
