Regardless of alleged crimes, every individual deserves their day in court and the due process of our judicial system. Often, people act from emotion rather than logic. When you're facing potential charges, it's essential to take a logical, reasoned approach to ensure that your best interests are protected. An experienced attorney can help you navigate the challenge so that you don't have to take it on alone.
Manhunt Ensues in Pursuit of Suspect
PennLive Patriot-News reported on August 28th that police apprehended Anthony Boone, a suspect in the fatal shooting of Rebecca Solt, a 40-year-old woman who died from a rifle shot in her chest. She was sitting on a backyard swing in her home. Witnesses on the scene alleged that Boone was parked on the road behind her house and shot her multiple times from his vehicle. Lawrence Township Police issued a statement that day that Boone was a suspect and should be considered armed and dangerous. According to Gant Daily, the search for him ended on Hogback Road in Pike Township; Boone ignored the police's request to drop his firearm, and instead shot himself with his .308 hunting rifle.
Suspect Dies in Hospital
According to a witness at Solt's shooting, Boone was Solt's estranged boyfriend and one of her children's father. At the time of her death, Solt had an active Protection from Abuse (PFA) order, more commonly known as a restraining order, in place. Boone was being cared for at UPMC Altoona and had not been arraigned, as police had stated he needed to be released from the hospital prior to arraignment. On September 15th, medical professionals determined that Boone would not recover from his self-inflicted wounds and subsequently removed him from life-support. Shortly after they did so, Boone died.
It can be devastating when a PFA is in place, especially if you are a parent. Rather than attempting to confront the person who requested the PFA, it might be wise to enter an appeal with the help of a Pennsylvania Lawyer. They can assist with gathering evidence and presenting your case at a PFA hearing. Additionally, if you're a suspect in a case, it can be easy to get caught up in fear and make less than ideal decisions. These decisions can have a long-ranging impact, just as Boone's did.
