Pennsylvania's Pittston Township Police Department has reported that a six-year-old girl was unlawfully taken and was reported missing over the weekend. The child who was playing at Luzerne County SkyZone was removed from the premises by her biological mother, Courtney Simoncavage, and an accomplice. Simoncavage does not have custody of her daughter; sole custody has been granted to the child's father. Simoncavage has visitation rights in supervised visits; she is not permitted any unsupervised contact with the child.
The child was returned shortly after to Pittston Township Police, and Simoncavage and her accomplice, Matthew Gill, were arrested. Simoncavage has been charged with various crimes, including interference with custody of a child, luring a child into a motor vehicle, and concealing the whereabouts of a child. She is being held in a local prison on a $40,000 bail.
Gill is also facing charges of interference with custody of a child, luring a child into a motor vehicle, concealing the whereabouts of a child, and an additional charge of failing to secure a child in a safety seat. He is also being held in prison on a $40,000 bail. If you've been charged with a crime in Pennsylvania, call the LLF Law Firm at 888.535.3686 or contact us online today.
Crimes Against Children in Pennsylvania
There are many crimes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania considers crimes against children. Crimes against children you should be aware of, or may unfortunately even be facing, include:
- Luring a child into a motor vehicle or structure
- Child pornography
- Indecent assault
- Indecent exposure
- Aggravated indecent assault
- Sexual assault
- Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse
- Rape

Penalties for Crimes Against Children in Pennsylvania
The penalties for these charges can vary greatly, particularly if you are a first-time or multiple-time offender and how many charges you are facing. If you are a first-time offender for some of these crimes, you could be facing a misdemeanor charge with minimal jail time and penalties. The more severe the crime and the more offenses you have committed, it could potentially lead you to over ten years in jail and excessive fines.
